Hygiene Management and product safety

The STI Group develops and maintains management systems for responsible and sustainable hygiene and product safety management that are tailored to the requirements of the market and our customers.

With regard to food packaging, the BRCGS (formerly BRC/IoP) and the FSSC 22000 have established themselves as globally recognised standards (GFSI recognition).

Both standards place great emphasis on product safety and require organisations to provide regular evidence of how they control health risks and other potential hazards throughout the manufacturing, processing, storage and transport processes along the value chain.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) was founded in 1996 to represent the interests of British retail companies and has developed standards for suppliers of packaging materials.

The FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) as an alternative standard for hygiene and product safety is based on the international standard ISO 22000:2018, which specifies the requirements for organisations in the food chain. Together with the ISO/TS 22002-4:2013 standard (production of food packaging) and other specific requirements, the FSC 22000 represents an independent alternative to the BRCGS.

Both types of certificate are location-based, i.e. they are audited annually.

Certification in accordance with the European standard DIN EN 15593:2008 (hygiene management in the production of food packaging) also serves to confirm good hygiene practice (GHP) and the application of HACCP, which are already included in the two standards mentioned.

With its three management systems for hygiene and product safety, the STI Group ensures that products are manufactured hygienically, safely and in compliance with the law. In addition, the systems support the goal of promoting active and responsible co-operation among the entire workforce.
