WorldStar Awards 2019
The WorldStar Packaging Awards – the Oscars of the packaging industry – have been presented by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) since 1970 to recognise excellence in packaging solutions.
STI Petőfi Nyomda received its first WorldStar award in 1992, for the Tunsgram light bulb packaging range, and has continued to receive recognition from the professional jury ever since. We won our 36th international award this year, with the St. Hubertus promotional packaging for Zwack.
St. Hubertus liqueur is available in three flavours in Hungarian stores, and we designed a unique decorative gift box for each. ‘Distinctive mystical forest graphics with foil highlights create a feast for the eyes, while the textured lacquer finish reinforces the premium quality of this well-known liquor the moment the shopper touches the box,’ says Attila Gömöri from the Petőfi Nyomda sales team. Packaging designer Máté Bodor also drew attention to the unusual hexagonal format, a customer request enhanced by the bottle-shaped diecut window spanning three of the six sides.
This year’s award ceremony was held in Prague on 15 May, hosted by WPO member the SYBA Obalovy Institut (Czech Packaging Institute). In total, 27 countries were represented at the event where 219 packaging solutions from 97 different manufacturers were judged.
