STI Group wins five Worldstar Awards for outstanding packaging
The WorldStar of Packaging Awards is the most prestigious packaging industry competition in which market-leading solutions from around the globe compete for the highly coveted trophies. This year, no less than five STI Group solutions won recognition from the international jury of industry experts.
STI Group’s winners this year included ist beautiful Chivas Regal gift packaging, a frozen food solution for ICELAND that is resistant to moisture and temperature changes, and a line of hinged folding boxes for MICROSE confectionery. The beautifully finished L’Oréal advent calendar and L’Or coffee capsule packaging range also won over the hearts and minds of the judges.
An unmissable glossy violet cube created from silver foil cardboard, the L’Oréal advent calendar stood out for its ultra-premium finish. A luxury look was essential to communicate the quality of the beauty products hidden inside, for this is no ordinary advent calendar – it includes highly desirable treats ranging from eyeliner and mascara to lipstick and nail varnish. Its compact shape makes it ideal for the bathroom shelf, the perfect location for an excited recipient to immediately try out each new product.
When JDE’s L’Or brand launched its aluminium coffee capsules, a prestige finish to the new folding box range was equally important. Unlike an advent calendar, in which secrecy is the intent, the priority for this solution was to give consumers a tempting glimpse of the new capsules within. To this end a challenging die-cut window, modeled on the curved ’L’ of the L’Or brand logo, is incorporated into the packaging using advanced technology while strong colours and UV gloss visually highlight the different flavours in the range.
Best of the best
STI Group’s worthy winners competed against a total of 318 entries from 35 different countries, each entry having already won a national packaging award in order to be eligible to enter WorldStar.
These five winning packaging solutions first achieved public recognition at the prestigious HUNGAROPACK Awards in Autumn 2017, and were all produced at STI Group’s Hungarian production facility in Kecskemét. This plant is the market leader in Central and Eastern Europe for premium folding boxes, and is skilled in meeting challenging requirements for the demanding pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics categories. STI Petöfi Nyomda Kft. has been part of the STI Group since 2007 and is closely networked with its other production facilities.
