Traditional printing experience in Kecskemét
STI Petöfi, Hungarian subsidiary of STI Group, supported the 650th anniversary of Kecskemét with numerous events during the autumn of 2018. Kecskemét is the seventh largest city in Hungary, situated around 85 km from Budapest, and is home to the leading folding carton manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe.
To celebrate the historic city’s anniversary, STI Petöfi employees commissioned a Gutenberg printing press dating from 1868, on which visitors could produce their own souvenir print to take home.
‘This was a great opportunity for our company to combine the tradition and experience of STI Petöfi with the history of the city,’ says STI Petöfi marketing coordinator Szimonetta Szücs. ‘For many young people and students, it was their first direct experience of how printing used to be done and they participated enthusiastically in the event. We also used the occasion to show visitors how modern printing companies work today, and what opportunities they might have as members of our team.’
The exhibition attracted not only Hungarians but also international visitors, such as this group of Japanese exchange students whose enthusiasm was clear to see. Marketing coordinator Szimonetta Szücs explains how the printing press works.
