STI Group wins five golds and two silvers at 2018 POPAI D-A-CH Awards
On June 14, POPAI's expert jury recognized the past year’s most creative POS and packaging solutions across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at its annual award ceremony in Frankfurt. POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) sees itself as a platform for Marketing at Retail excellence, and has been awarding prizes for outstanding POS solutions for more than five decades.
Small format excellence
A die-cut floorstand for PRIMAVERA feel-good showers won gold for its small footprint, optimally tailored to the limited space in health food stores, pharmacies, drugstores and specialist organic retailers.
The jury also rewarded a rotating long-term pharmacy unit displaying cough sweets from WICK on one side and Dallmann's on the other. Each side is individually branded and adapted to the different packaging formats, earning it a silver award.
Award-winning special displays
The stunning foiled piano display for Reber Mozart speciality confectionery was obviously a popular choice to win gold from the jury, as it was later revealed that ceremony attendees had voted for it to win the gold Audience Award too. The cardboard piano is simple to set up but beautifully detailed, creating a distinctive shape to grab shopper attention and drive sales.
Also first on the podium was Fireman Sam’s Jupiter fire truck, an unmistakeable reference to the television series and which created the perfect backdrop for Simba Dickie Group toys.
Another gold award winner was the moving launch display for new Super Mario Odyssey from Nintendo. Contour-punched and pre-blocked elements create a 3D effect while an integrated motor enables Cappy to move up and down, catching the eye of every store visitor.
Making another striking impact was the BORCO Cocktail-Car, which won silver for its creative display of spirits using a festival-style food truck display. Take-away recipe cards inspired shoppers to experiment with mixing new drinks, while the competition for a table grill reinforced the connection between BORCO brands and that essential summer event, the barbecue.
The POPAI D-A-CH jury also awarded gold for a special gift pack for Störtebeker drinks, developed jointly with PAPACKS®, shaped like the beautiful Hamburg Elbphilharmonie building. As well as looking impressive, it shows sustainable longevity. The distinctive roof lights up, allowing it to be used as a designer light source at home.
