Modularisation - Standardisation - Emotionalisation: New design for Nestlé at the POS

Nescafé, Ricoré and Nesquik are the three drink brands owned by Nestlé Département Boissons Instantanées in France. By re-launching the display material, the visibility of the products in the trade should be improved as well as optimising the display variants.

The object of the STI France team was to reduce the number of types of display and re-design them to become modular. This way, they can be placed in the shops as single loading and as a mixed display. Also, the displays should be supplied to the trade both as ready loaded unit (Retail Ready Display) and as a flat-pack unit, to be able to be assembled and loaded in the outlet.

Nestlé display range: Before - After optimisation

Modular design: 2 instead of 10 display variants

Fredéric Beaugheon, Key Account Manager for Nestlé France was responsible for the design, and used his specific knowledge as a designer and product developer to perfect the implementation. Together with product developer Sylvie Salillas he designed a complete modular display, for the whole range, for a ¼ and ½ pallet placement that consists of a stand with attached rear wall and placard, a centre pillar and drawer trays inserted. These four basic elements can then be used for all brands.

Continuous single-material design of corrugated cardboard

If mixed loading is needed, rather than single loading, integrated display hooks made from bonded paper provide the necessary stability and allow product access on all levels.

Nominated for the POPAI Award 2008

This has been nominated for the French POPAI Award 2008 (at the time of going to press, Gold, Silver & Bronze have not been decided). This underlines the creativity of this design and also the international network of the STI Group as the displays were produced in the factory of the Spanish Joint Venture Partners of STI France.
