Next generation Shelf Click display goes sustainable

Open the boot, pop the display under your arm and head in to see the store manager – a ritual that field salespeople go through several times every day. So a display that sets up quickly and easily, instead of a kit filled with complex parts and assembly instructions, is a clear favourite.

‘This is why our one-piece Shelf Click display has such a broad fan base – even co-packers love it,’ says Andreas Meny, STI Group display designer. ‘So when it came to improving the design, we looked at a more sustainable solution without the plastic clips to hold shelves in place.’

‘Initially we looked at alternative materials, but replacing plastic with paper-based clips was not ideal. The cost of the clips – and therefore the display – increased significantly. So, too, did set-up time and shipping volume. We knew this wouldn’t work for our customers,’ says Meny. ‘So we rethought our approach: instead of replacing the clips, why not eliminate them?’

STI Group customers can now access a greener Shelf Click design, retaining all the advantages of the original with the added benefits of 100% recyclability and lower CO2 emissions.

‘Our Shelf Click ‘Mono’ display is made purely from corrugated cardboard and slots together in no time at all, in store or warehouse. The ‘Multi’ version also offers variable shelf height, and its even smaller shipping volume further reduces CO2 emissions. Whether Mono or Multi is better suited depends on the product, packing process and distribution channel,’ adds Meny.

Shelf Click is delivered as a complete unit: just unfold and slot the shelves into the sidewalls. No tools, no individual parts to lose. It safely carries heavy as well as light products – from sweets or stationery to shampoo, drinks or detergent. Shipped flat for assembly and filling in store, it is particularly popular with retailers across France, Benelux, UK, Scandinavia and Central Europe. When built and pre-filled at a copacker, its time-saving assembly still gives it broad appeal.

Designed for recycling

Like many STI Group display solutions, the new Shelf Click display generation is designed for a circular economy. The entire display is recyclable, and is made from recycled FSC®-certified board. ‘By compensating for the CO2 emissions from production and transport, you can make the display fully carbon compensated: that’s unbeatable in terms of sustainability,’ says Meny. ‘It’s worth communicating this fact on the display as well, as shoppers are keen on greener solutions.’
