The core elements of the factory and property protection infrastructure are integrated into the STI Group's IMS system, and range from personalised default standards to the use of electronic and mechanical security mechanisms.

The various communication and coordination tasks for all security services units are also defined within the STI Group. This applies to both classic emergency and intrusion alarms as well as malfunction reports from heating and air conditioning equipment and manually triggered assistance requests for lift passengers.

The fire brigade for the STI Group differentiates between measures to prevent fires from getting started and preventing the spread of fire and smoke (=preventative fire protection) and measures related to rescuing persons and effective extinguishing of fires (=active fire fighting).

Preventative fire protection is broken down into the following sub-classifications

• structural fire protection
• equipment-related fire protection and
• organisational fire protection.

The active fire fighting brigade is then used when one or more of the preventative measures fails. Each factory is trained in both the legal standards for this area as well as detailed action guidelines as well.
