OSRAM new packaging is thus not only environmentally friendly but an effective aid in customer decision-making at the POS as well. The underside of the packaging is open, allowing consumers what kind of base is used and to test that the bulb works on a sample socket right there in the store without having to open the packaging. The Eco Blister for Osram convinced the judges in the "Communication Design – Packaging Design" category and earned a reddot design award 2008.
