Machinery investment on the grounds of specific customer needs and with European Union support
The machine stock of STI Group in Hungary was expanded with a new inhabitant on September 17, 2010, namely a 7-colour KBA printing press machine. The cutting edge device is provided with double lacquer coating and UV-drying equipment, making it capable to meet utmost the increasingly specialized needs of our customers.
The purchase of the machinery has become justified by the need of modern UV technology, since the requirements of our customers are growing and changing in a sharp pace. Due to the new machinery, the STI Group factory in Hungary can apply UV technology on the folded carton boxes in a far more efficient and economical way. The maximum speed of the 7-colour, B/1 format printing press equipped with front and rear logistics put-up is 18,000 sheets per hour.
Besides new UV technology, the new KBA machine is capable of applying special effects, extras on the packaging, while due to its non-stop feeder and ejector it ensures smooth production even for long run orders. As a novelty, the integrated quality control system filters the smallest errors off in the print impressions. Since each sheet is similar to a digital pdf texture, in case of any difference the error is indicated automatically or in a marking tape. The quality control system, through checking each sheet will greatly contribute to error detection, compared to the current machinery where only samples are taken, and when checking solely the operator’s eye can be relied on, which process is now partly undertaken by the modern technology.
”Demand for packaging with high added value has increased lately” – states Endre Fábián, the managing director of STI Petőfi Nyomda. ”The machine of high performance, equipped with UV technology increases our capacity, and through its utilisation, new segments are revealing for us within the market.”
The KBA machine arrived at STI Petőfi on September 17, 2010, when its installation was commenced. The initiation ceremony was held when the other 6 colour + lacquer coating KBA machinery without UV technology was set into operation, within the frames of an official partner’s meeting on April 14, 2011.
The machinery investment was realised through a GOP 2.1.1-09 tender under the supervision of Mag Zrt., with European Union support.
