Günter P. Bauer
Günter P. Bauer has been Creative Director of Jos de Vries The Retail Company in Maarssen in the Netherlands since 2006. He is also a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering of the Delft University. Before joining Jos de Vries, Mr Bauer worked as a freelance retail designer in Alkmaar. Between 1999 and 2001, he was industrial design engineer at Albert Heijn in Zaandam. He holds a Master of Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology. more
Hans-Georg Böcher
Hans-Georg Böcher is the director of the German packaging museum Deutsches Verpackungs-Museum in Heidelberg, which is supported by 230 companies, including BASF, Beiersdorf, Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Unilever. Over many years, he has succeeded in building a private historical archive and a comprehensive artistic packaging collection. The art historian’s private collection consists of thousands of originals that are regularly shown in exhibitions and used in film shootings such as the Hollywood production “The good German” by Steven Sonderbergh, starring Kate Blanchet and George Clooney in 2006. Mr Böcher is an author of various trade books and illustrated books on packaging and brand design and is also member of several design and creative competition organisations. more
Susanne Czech-Winkelmann, Prof. Dr.
Susanne Czech-Winkelmann has been a professor of International Sales Management at the Wiesbaden Business School of the Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences since 1997. Before her time as professor, she held various marketing and sales management positions, including general manager marketing and sales. She gained practical experience at companies in the OTC drug, cosmetics and food industries, including Wick Pharma/Procter & Gamble and Milupa. Ms Czech-Winkelmann also works as a consultant and reviewer. more
Claudia Endl, Dipl.-Kffr.
Claudia Endl is general manager of consultancy Dölle Managementberatung Handelsmarketing und Absatzförderung. She is a strategic consultant specialised in the opening of new markets and the launch of new product concepts. Ms Endl graduated in business management at the University of Giessen in Germany und the University of Texas in El Paso in the US and later worked as a marketing and sales consultant for retail and services for many years. She founded and today heads a food retail media services company. Ms Endl holds a business administration degree. more
Dierk Frauen, Dipl.-Kfm.
Dierk Frauen is general manager and owner of food company Frauen Lebensmittel KG. He joined his family’s business as general manager in 1997, when it was still called Peter Frauen & Co. oHG. He then became the owner of the newly founded company Frauen Lebensmittel KG. Before graduating in business management at the University of Hamburg in Germany, Mr Frauen was trained as a tax and economic consultant. He was chairman of German food association Bundesverband des Deutschen Lebensmittelhandels e. V. and member of the board of German retail body HDE e. V. until early 2010. Mr Frauen holds a business administration degree. more
Michael Gerling, Dipl.-Kfm.
As a general manager of EHI Retail Institute, Michael Gerling is in charge of research and working groups as well as the other business areas. After graduating from the University of Münster in Germany, he started his career as a trainee at Edeka Handelsgesellschaft Münsterland in 1983. Between 1990 and 1993, Mr Gerling worked for various companies abroad and later joined EHI-EuroHandelsinstitut as senior consultant. Among his various honorary positions, he is managing director of German food association Bundesverband des Deutschen Lebensmittelhandels e. V. Mr Gerling holds a business administration degree. more
Tom Giessler, Dr.
Tom Giessler is a general manager of STI Group. He graduated in business management and engineering at the RWTH Aachen university and completed his studies with a doctorate. He later worked as a consultant for an international group with a focus on the development and implementation of business and technology strategies. Mr Giessler held various international corporate finance positions and worked for a strategic consulting company before joining STI Group in 2007. As Chief Financial Officer, he has been in charge of commercial operations and the company‘s international branches since. more
Christoph Häberle, Prof. Dr.
Christoph Häberle has been Dean of Students for the master degree Packaging, Design and Marketing at the Hochschule der Medien university in Stuttgart since 2005. After graduating in production and automation technology at the FHT Esslingen, he held various certification and development positions between 1989 and 1992. He then graduated in industry design at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste university in Stuttgart and gained a doctorate in philosophy and design at the University of Wuppertal. In 2000, he became professor of packaging technology at the packaging design department of the Hochschule für Druck und Medien university in Stuttgart. His main area of research is colour research. more
Bernd Otto Hallier, Prof. Dr.
Bernd Otto Hallier has been general manager of EHI Retail Institut since 1985. The research, training and consulting institute for retailers and their partners has 500 member companies from the retail, consumer and capital goods industries. Mr Hallier is also the founder of German meat labelling organisation Orgainvent, co-founder of EUREPGAP (today known as GlobalGAP), chairman of the EuroShop advisory council and founder of the European Retail Academy and European Competence Center for Vocational Training (EuCVoT). He has travelled the world to give lectures on retail and is an author of trade books and more than 200 articles. more
Henk Knaupe
Henk Knaupe is a partner at Commarco and general manager of Scholz & Friends Sales Affairs. After graduating in Near East Studies in Leipzig and Applied Economics in Berlin, he conducted research and held various marketing positions in the 1990s. In 2001 and 2008, Mr Knaupe founded two retail communications companies (Scholz & Friends Brand Affairs GmbH and Scholz & Friends Sales Affairs within the Scholz & Friends Group). The foundation of RessourcenReich GmbH followed in 2009. RessourcenReich GmbH is specialised in “holistic retail concepts” and “sustainable distribution”. more
Jon Kramer
Jon Kramer is the Chief Marketing Officer of Rock-Tenn Merchandising Displays in Cincinnati. He has specialised in developing retail marketing strategies for international suppliers of branded goods such as Kraft Foods, PepsiCo and Campell’s. Kramer believes in the convergence of sales promotion, advertising and new media at the POS to win the First Moment of Truth. more
Marlene Lohmann, Dipl.-Kffr.
Marlene Lohmann has been head of marketing research and project manager of EHI Wissenschaftspreis Handel at the EHI Retail Institute e. V. since 2005. After training to be a bank clerk and graduating in economics, with a focus on marketing, at the University of Paderborn in Germany, she led the marketing of various advertising and marketing companies, including Konsumgenossenschaft Dortmund-Kassel, Stinnes Baumarkt in Esslingen and the Paderborner Brauerei Cramer brewery. She is also an honorary jury member of various organisations, including EHI Wissenschaftspreis Handel and STI Design Award. Ms Lohmann holds a business administration degree. more
Bram Nauta
Bram Nauta graduated from the University of Rotterdam in Marketing Management and started his career in marketing management with Van Nelle Confectionery and Johma Salads. From 1986 he worked with different advertising agencies and was international client services director in the AYER agency on Beiersdorf, SEAT and Dentsu. In 1992 he started his own consultancy agency in retail marketing. In this capacity he got into contact with POPAI Benelux in 1998. Having experience in brandmarketing, advertising and retailing he joined the Benelux Board and was appointed general manager in 2000. Nauta is among other things responsible for developing methodology and executing POPAI marketresearch on consumer behaviour, effectiveness and expenditures studies and is frequently giving lectures on these issues. more
Michael Schellenberger
Michael Schellenberger has been a general manager at Deutscher Fachverlag with responsibilities for LZ-Medien, business trade journal “Der Handel” as well as the agricultural publications “AZ” and “Feed Magazine” since 2000. Before, the 62-year old was chief editor of the Lebensmittelzeitung, a weekly magazine for food manufacturers and retailers. After training as a retail salesman, Mr Schellenberger worked as a salesman and substitute for several years. He also studied at the business school Höhere Wirtschaftsfachschule in Siegen for three years. At the age of 25, he joined the Lebensmittelzeitung. He started his career as an assistant to the chief editor, was named head of retail after two years and promoted to deputy chief editor at the age of 31. Five years later, Mr Schellenberger was appointed co-chief editor next to Jürgen Wolfskeil. Today, 42 editors and more than 200 authors work for the Lebensmittelzeitung. more
Frank-Michael Schmidt
Frank-Michael Schmidt has been CEO of Scholz & Friends Group and CEO of the Commarco holding since April 2008. After graduating from the Freie Universität of Berlin university, he joined Wilkens Ayer in Hamburg as a management assistant in 1989. Mr Schmidt held various brand consulting and strategic planning positions between 1991 and 2000, when he was appointed as Chief Strategic Officer at the German branch of J. Walter Thompson Group. In 2003, he joined Scholz & Friends as general manager Germany with responsibility for the group‘s German agencies. Mr Schmidt holds a Master of Arts. more
Hendrik Schröder, Univ.-Prof. Dr.
Hendrik Schröder has been holding the Chair of Business Management at the University of Duisburg- Essen since 1996. His focus is marketing and retail. Also since 1996, he has been head of the research centre for Category Management in Essen. His main areas of research are shopper research, retail management and retail controlling, customer relationship management and multi-channel retailing. more
Louise Spillard
Louise Spillard has been research director at IGD in London since 2008. Since 1999, she has been in charge of the company‘s retail and customer research divisions. Ms Spillard graduated in Hotel and Catering Management at the University of Surrey and worked as a buyer at Waitrose before taking up research. more
Raphael Stix
Raphael Stix is general manager of Globalshopper GmbH in Hamburg. Before joining Globalshopper, he held various sales, key account and marketing positions with fast moving consumer goods companies like Bestfoods and Unilever for 17 years. Since 2005, Mr Stix has been a shopper marketing consultant to leading international branded goods companies. more
Sophie Wittl, Dipl.-Ing. Verpackungstechnik (FH)
Sophie Wittl is product developer at STI Group with responsibility for international key accounts. She graduated in packaging technology at the Hochschule der Medien (HdM) University in Stuttgart in Germany. She also graduated from the Ecole Supérieure d‘Ingénieurs en Emballage et Conditionnement (ESIEC) university in Reims. Ms Wittl holds an engineering degree in packaging technology. She wrote her thesis on the origins and history of POS displays. more
