Modular display systems reduce time and costs
The Vileda brand out in front.
Successful businesses organise the process from concept to market launch professionally and efficiently.
This was one of the reasons why Vileda® commissioned the development a modular system for POS placements. It specified that only a small number of standard elements should be required to implement various displays and loading variations – including immediate implementation of promotional placements for new products as well.
The job also called for standardisation of the display elements and reduction of the multiplicity of components, thus streamlining process costs. The STI Group's consulting team received the commission and set about examining the existing design, including a comparative study of the category at the POS. Based on their findings they recommended development of a modular system.
Reduction in multiplicity of components by over 70%
The modular design led to an over 70% reduction in the overall parts count. The introduction of a “universal pedestal” for all display types both enforces a uniform visual appearance and allows for larger batch sizes and better use of the economy of scale during the production process.
The Vileda® brand was also streamlined. The colour scheme of the re-design was restricted to red and white, which lends a healthy pop to the lettering. The emphasis on red also provides extra orientation for consumers.
Reduction in the process costs over the whole supply chain
The optimisation of the display range meant savings on both manufacturing and process costs. The result: a rejuvenated branding, clear positioning, simpler handling, reduced process costs and a high degree of flexibility.
The new display system consists of just a few module elements that can be flexibly reconfigured into new units. Vileda® also commissioned the STI Group to create an article pass with all key data for each display type.
At a glance: The advantages of the new modular system
- Smaller number of individual components
- Optimal market presentation
- Uniform appearance when displays are positioned into blocks
- Minimised stockkeeping requirements
- Clear inventory management
- Reduced inventory
- Minimal wastage from unmatched parts
- Beneficial logistic and freight factors
- Reduced transport damage
- Shorter lead times
- Minimal assembly time and effort due to optimised handling
- High flexibility due to short reaction times
- Advantages in increased speed to market
The new design's association with a brand family is clear from the first glance and gives the consumer orientation. Only a small number of elements are required to create a large number of different displays types of display for a broad range of products.
